Slightly Stoopid is nothing if not prolific.

In July the rock/reggae band from Ocean City, Calif., released a 21-song album called "Slightly Not Stoned Enough to Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid," a hodgepodge collection of a previous EP and a batch of new recordings the group did after sessions for its 2007 release, "Chronchitis."

"After ('Chronchitis')," explains drummer Ryan "RyMo" Moran, "we were like, 'We don't know if we want to get back in the studio 'cause we've been on the road a good amount this year. Why don't we just give the fans something a little extra, a little different and fun.

"That's how ('Slightly Not Stoned...') came about."

Besides a cover of the Grateful Dead's "I Know You Rider," the new sessions also gave Slightly Stoopid a chance to record studio versions of a couple of fan favorites that it previously had only performed live, "Sensimilla" and "False Rhythms."

"We had fans definitely requesting newer versions of those songs," says Moran, 32. "They were pretty much ready to be recorded, too; after playing them live so many thousands of times, they were already there. We didn't have to do much work to get them into shape.

" 'Sensimilla' was pretty easy, but for some reason 'False Rhythms' did feel a little different. That's just one of the tunes that thrives off the live energy so much, so that one was a little bit challenging, but fun nonetheless."

Slightly Stoopid performs at 8 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 23) at Clutch Cargo's, 65 E. Huron St., Pontiac. Tickets are $20. Call (248) 333-2362 or visit www.livenation.com.
