Pleasure P took a chance when he left the group Pretty Ricky in 2007 to strike out on his own. But with the charttopping success of “Boyfriend #2,” the second single from his solo album “The Introduction of Marcus Cooper,” he’s hardly second-guessing himself.

“I feel like I’m establishing something,” says P, 24, whose third single, “Under,” is currently scaling the charts. “I feel like I’m grabbing more and more people by the day. I see the progression and I see I’m winning people over, and I’m happy I’m turning a lot of people into believers.

“When I was in (Pretty Ricky), the music was more for the young. My music now is more for everybody. All age groups now can relate to the things I’m talking about.”

Pleasure P has already started working on his second solo album, which he hopes to get out in early 2010. Meanwhile, he’s enjoying being part of the “America’s Most Wanted Music Festival” and hanging out with the crew from Lil Wayne’s Young Money label.

“It’s introducing me to another audience, and it’s introducing me as Pleasure P, one of America’s most wanted,” he says. “I don’t think people really see I’ve been dropping singles all year, but ‘Under’ is out and another’s gonna come out and then people are really going to see my work and what I bring to the table.”

The “Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival” tour, featuring Lil Wayne (with Shanell, Baby aka Birdman and others), Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Pleasure P and Jeremih, takes place at 6 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 30) at the DTE Energy Music Theatre, Sashabaw Road east of I-75, Independence Township. Tickets are $42.75-82.75 pavilion, $32.75 lawn. Call (248) 377-0100 or visit www.palacenet.com.
