Toronto rockers Billy Talent -- and their new album, "Billy Talent III" -- are coming to America. Finally.

Due to business machinations that prevented a simultaneous worldwide release, the quartet has been gradually rolling out its new music since mid-July, when "III" debuted atop the charts in Billy Talent's native Canada. Now, with a Sept. 22 release in the U.S. and Japan, the group is looking forward to having the whole world on the same page.

"So far it's been great. It's been amazing," says guitarist Ian D'sa. "We just got back from the U.K., where things are picking up for us. The album's going crazy in German so far.

"We've never been a band where right off the bat we were instantly appreciated or successful. It seems like we're a slow-build career band, and every album we continually seem to be making new fans. That's been working great for us."

Billy Talent is giving its guitar playing fans a little something extra with "III," too. Besides the regular album the group has released a special "Guitar Villain Edition" that features the songs stripped of the guitar tracks so that fans can play along with the rest of the band.

"We haven't been on Guitar Hero yet, so we decided to make our own, in a way," says D'sa, 33, who personally supervised the tablature transcriptions.

"It's a really cool thing; if you go on YouTube a lot of kids are posting videos of them laying along with (the songs from 'III'). I'm totally blown away by it."

Billy Talent and AM Taxi perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 15) at St. Andrews Hall, 431 E. Congress St., Detroit. Tickets are $16 in advance, $18 day of show. Call (313) 961-6358 or visit www.livenation.com.
