The Bravery last rolled through town in July, opening for Green Day -- a tour that made frontman Sam Endicott at bit nervous at first.

"I thought, 'This is gonna be really strange,' because their fans are very different than our normal fans," says Endicott, 35, a Bethesda, Md., native who co-founded the Bravery in 2003 in New York. "But it was actually a really fun tour. Every night it was great crowds.

"It was interesting because you get a wide range of people at their shows. In the stands it's people in their 30s, and on the floor it's 14 year olds that just found out about Green Day a year or two ago. And they all seemed to like us, so it was really cool."

The outing also gave the Bravery a chance to road-test some of the songs for its third album, "Slow Poison," due out Nov. 10 and, according to Endicott, "darker and angrier" than its predecessors. But he says little changed after giving audiences an earful of the new material.

"We did that a lot with the second record...but with this album I think the songs just, at their heart, work better live, so when we got out there it just felt really good," Endicott says. "We came up with some parts on stage that we hadn't thought of before and we wound up adding those, so it was useful in that way, but there were no major overhauls -- which made us feel pretty good."

The Bravery, Living Things and the Dustys perform at 7 p.m. Monday (Oct. 5) at Saint Andrews Hall, 431 E. Congress St., Detroit. Tickets are $16 with a $48 four-pack. Call (313) 961-6358 or visit www.livenation.com.
