Releasing a new album means something more to G. Love than just having a bunch of new songs to play.

"That means I can start thinking about making another record," says G. Love (real name Garrett Dutton), the Philadelphia troubadour and leader of the band G. Love & Special Sauce, who released his fourth solo album, "Fixin' to Die," in February. "That's kind of what it's all about for me, just making music and continuing to do that.

"And I've got so many different records I want to make, too."

"Fixin' to Die" knocks one of those off the list, what he calls "a more folk-oriented record with ... that kind of finger-pickin' stuff I've drizzled into some of my other records." So what else is on his list?

"I have a whole group of kind of Philly-oriented, hip-hop (stuff) like a straight-up funk party record," says G. Love, 38. "Then there's a blues record we're talking about doing where we go around and record with a lot of famous and definitely some obscure bluesmen that we can find and film kind of like a Buena Visa Social Club.

"The way you can put out records right now, I'm kind of in a mindframe to put out a record every year. I've got too much I want to do to wait around too long, you know?"
