The members of Five Finger Death Punch took a positive view towards the way their latest album "American Capitalist," came out of the box.

The Los Angeles heavy metal quintet's third album bowed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart in October, its highest showing yet. And, guitarist Jason Hook notes, "if it weren't for this Adele record ('21') we probably would have squeezed into No. 2. But that's OK; we'll settle for No. 3 for now. It gives us something to work for.

FFDP has been working since 2005, in fact, and has achieved a degree of critical acclaim as well as a pair of bookings each on the Mayhem Festival and Family Values tours as well as the U.K.'s Download Festival. All of that generated high expectations for "American Capitalist" -- which Hook says is not intended as a criticism of the system.

"It's more about a mentality than money or greed -- a winner's mentality," the Toronto native explains. "Anybody who's a capitalist, a wealthy, investing, entrepreneurial kind of a person, they don't just start off by falling into the success hole. They start by working hard, and if you work hard you make choices that help you succeed. To me that's exciting.

"So it's about pushing yourself and being driven. We're encouraging people to push themselves, just like we push ourselves."

Five Finger Death Punch, All That Remains, Hatebreed and Rains perform on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Compuware Arena, 14900 Beck Road, Plymouth. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 day of show. Call 734-453-6400 or visit www.thecrofoot.com.
