Seventeen months after the release of its sixth and latest album, "Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray," Seether is starting to think about it next move.

Frontman Shaun Morgan is hoping the album's fourth single, "Here and Now," will provide "a nice way to mellowly go into the process of writing a new album" in early 2013, "with the intent of having it out late next year.

"There's no writing as of yet, just because we've been slammed with touring," the South African-born Morgan, 33, explains. "It's not going to be something we rush into and put out a crappy thing just because there's a deadline. This album took a little time because we wrote more songs and we wrote a little more carefully and certainly took our time with them.

"We want to make sure when we put out something next time it's not going to seem like there was a rush."

But Morgan and his bandmates have been nothing but pleased with "Holding Onto Strings...," which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Rock Albums chart and has given the group a greater international impact, with summer festival appearances on both sides of the Atlantic.

"It's been great, Man," Morgan says. "We've been touring pretty much nonstop and we've been having great success with the singles. It's been a lot more than we ever expected, to be honest. You always hope for good things to happen, but you never really want to hope for too much.

"We're just sort of a little nervous, 'cause when it's time to write the new one we've raised the bar a little bit. We've put some pressure on ourselves for the next time around, but in a good way, I think."

Seether, Sick Puppies, Kyng and Eye Empire perform Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Fillmore Detroit, 2115 Woodward Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30-$55. Call 313-961-5450 or visit www.livenation.com
