It's been 10 years since The Whigs formed in Athens, Ga. But four albums in -- including this year's "Enjoy the Company," frontman Parker Gispert says the band "still feels like we're very much getting started, which I think is good.

"It doesn't feel long," says Gispert, 30. "It doesn't feel like 10 years. It feels short, although then I start thinking back it does seem like a different lifetime when I wasn't doing (the band), so it does feel like some time has passed.

"But it still feels young. I feel like in the grand scheme of the band it's still an early stage."

One change Gispert and company have made, however, is moving from Athens to Nashville, which he says has been both pragmatic and inspiring.

"We went to school (in Athens) and haven't really been around just 'cause we're touring so much and that kind of thing," he explains. "Athens is still home for us, but Nashville is still in the South and it's an exciting time for the city. There's a lot of cool rock music happening there now. It feels like the right place for us to be.

"So it just kind of happened. We had a lot of friends there. It's more central than Athens and is closer to an airport than Athens is. Things built up slowly, and we ended up there and we're happy -- for now."

The Whigs and Kuroma perform Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Magic Stick, 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14. Call 313-833-9700 or visit www.majesticdetroit.com.
