Alec Ounsworth has an idea for how he's like to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah early next year.

"I guess the celebration of it might be we're gonna bring out a new record and be on the road and playing songs from all the records," says Ounsworth, 35, who formed the indie rock group at Connecticut College before moving its base of operations to Brooklyn. ""We may do something else, but I try not to look back too much -- even though people constantly remind me of it."

Clap Your Hands released a new EP earlier this year called "Little Movements," and it's in the mix of recording its fourth full-length album in upstate New York with longtime Flaming Lips cohort Dave Fridmann producing. "We're trying to get all the pieces in place," Ounsworth says. "Working with Dave, he definitely plays to my more unusual instincts, but I'm not really sure what it sounds like yet. I'm still trying to put my finger on exactly what we have here, but fortunately it all seems to hang together."

And one thing it won't sound like, Ounsworth adds, is the "Little Things" EP, which he says is mostly he and Clap Your Hands partner Sean Greenhalgh "just messing around with a lot of electronic stuff Sean was getting out to. I thought it was cool, and I still do, and we liked it enough to put out. But it's not really indicative of what the album will be like."

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Arc Isis perform Friday, Sept. 27, at the Magic Stick, 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Door open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 day of show. Call 313-833-9700 or visit www.majesticdetroit.com.
