Steve Aoki has become electronic music's version of a proud papa.

The California producer/DJ/artist is headlining the Aokify America Tour, showcasing artists from his Dim Mak Records label as well as friends such as rapper Waka Flocka Flame. And Aoki makes it sound like he's having a better time than anybody else.

"I love the whole idea of all of us on the Dim Mak wagon being, like, a traveling circus and presenting to each different city," says Aoki, 35, who recently released a new single, "Bring You To Life (Transcend)" with RAS and is working on his next album, "Neon Future," for a 2014 release. "We're out there saying, 'This is what the Dim Make sound is all about,' and you get a little piece of our culture through our show.

"So, yeah, I'm very proud of what we're doing and it's going to be a fun, crazy night wherever we play." The shows also raise money for a local charity chosen by fan votes.

Aoki is also visible, and audible, via "A Light That Never Shines," his collaboration with Linkin Park for the group's Recharge game on Facebook and its just-released "Recharged" remix album. It was a long time in coming, Aoki says, starting after conversations with LP's Mike Shinoda in 2012.

"It was just a time issue," he says. "They're always touring, and then, as bands do, they hole up in a studio and start writing the next album. And since I'm touring all the time, the way I produce is pretty much on the road and on the fly.

"But working with Mike and the whole Linkin Park crew, it was incredible to work with a band that has so much musical history and charisma and color. It was just a great inspiration to work with all these guys, and they're just wonderful dudes."

Steve Aoki's Aokify America Tour with Borgore, Waka Flocka Flame, Deorro and more, plays Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Fillmore Detroit, 2115 Woodward Wave. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20-$50. Call 313-961-5450 or visit www.livenation.com.
