The international Acoustic Guitar Project comes "home" this weekend.

Founded by Detroit native Dave Adams, the AGP is a global outreach bringing together performers and songwriters playing original material on the same guitar, filmed for videos that appear at www.theacousticguitarproject.com. Adams and his cohorts have so far captured 95 artists from Detroit, New York, Haiti, Colombia and Finland, and next year on March 1 he plans to film some 200 performances in 20 different cities simultaneously.

"I want this to be an annual songwriting celebration," explains Adams, 42, who now resides in New York and partially funded AGP via a Kickstarter campaign. "The idea is to take them back to just them and a guitar and that moment of pure inspiration. My only requirement is that it's somebody who sings from the heart."

Adams will showcase Detroit's entries so far into the AGP with a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at NextWave Media Lab, 950 Stephenson Highway in Troy. Paul Randolph, Emily Rose, Audra Kubat, Sean Blackman, Erich Goebel, Carts Before Horses, Jesse Passage, Greater Alexander, Britney Stoney, Brad Kelly, Danny Kline and Andru Bemis will perform one song each, with a WiFi webcast available at www.shows.live.spacebar.com/1470.html. Those attending live will be asked for donations after the show, which will be applied towards future AGP events.

Adams says he's also speaking with potentially corporate sponsors for those endeavors.
