Tom Keifer is best known as the frontman for the rock group Cinderella, but after midnight struck for that band he released a well-regarded first solo album “The Way Life Goes.”

And then the fun began.

Because of a conflict with the label and subsequent legal issues, the album languished for awhile. Fortunately Keifer was able to get the rights back and has released a deluxe edition, adding bonus covers of the Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends” and Cinderella’s “Nobody’s Fool,” the latter as a duet with Lzzy Hale.

So Keifer, 56, is feeling triumphant as he hits the road to jump-start the album, and he promises there will be more where that came from, eventually...

• Keifer says by phone that the “The Way Life Goes” ordeal was, not surprisingly, frustrating. “It’s been quite a journey, but we finally got the masters returned to us and it feels good to get it back on the shelves and online. We had to lawyer up and fight, but it was worth it. It was a little rough playing these songs live and having people say, ‘Dude, I can’t find the record,’ but now they can so it was all worthwhile.”

• The new version of “Nobody’s Fool,” according to Keifer, “came about on the tour trail” after doing some shows with Hale and her band Halestorm. “Lzzy and I ended up on stage together during the encores, singing ‘Nobody’s Fool’ together as a duet,” Keifer recalls. “It went down huge. Social media comments were off the charts and it was something people were requesting a studio version of for the last few years. So it was a no-brainer. People just loved it so when we were doing (the deluxe version) we recorded it and put it out.”

• Keifer says that new songs “have been piling up” and he hopes to work on his next solo album in the new year. And he’s pouring cold water on any hopes of a reunion for Cinderella, which has been dormant for more than a year now. “I’m not one to air dirty laundry or talk about the dynamics of what goes on between us,” Keifer says. “Basically I’ve been saying for a couple of years, as have other members of the band, that there’s some pretty deep-seeded issues that have been going on for decades that are really beyond repair. I think everyone’s moved on. I certainly have. I play those (Cinderella) songs with my band now, and I love this band. The new music has been received well, and the band has grown in popularity on the tour trail. So we’re just loving life.”
