It’s the calm before the storm for Halestorm.

The quartet is currently on the road because that’s what it does -- as often as possible. But it’s also gearing up for the release of its fifth album, which frontwoman Lzzy Hale says is “almost done.” The group has been working in Nashville with producer Nick Raskulinecz, and Hale predicts a first single out by April with the album to follow -- and, of course, plenty of additional shows on the horizon.

Hale, 34, took a minute to offer a preview of what’s coming, as well as an update about the group’s current state of affairs on tour...

• Hale says by phone that Halestorm took a slightly different approach to making the followup to 2015’s “Into The Wild Life.” “We’ve been taking our time a little bit on this record, which we’ve never really done before,” she says. “Usually you get off tour and write, write, write, and then I start calling up my writer buddies, ‘He, you got some time? Let’s hash some stuff out.’ This time we did the complete opposite; We stopped touring and then we went into the studio and just started with nothing and kind of built up this bed of a record from there.”

• Because of that, Hale says the material is “definitely a step forward for us. I think you’re really going to see something that comes from all four corners of Halestorm, what each of us brings to the table and just how important all four pillars are in this band. We’re really pumped about having something new, and I just hope everyone likes it -- and, regardless, we’re stoked on it.”

• She says the album is “almost done,” with “about two or three weeks left of recording just to put cherries on top.” But the group is also open to some late arrivals, much like previous favorites such as “Love Bites” and “Dear Daughter.” “That’s the big thing in the world of Halestorm. We’ll be writing, writing, writing and we think we’ve got the record figured out and all of a sudden at the 11th hour there’s, like, one or two songs that come out because you’re relieved that you have the record, and those are the songs that are, ‘OK, we have to put them on the record somehow.’ So we’re kind of in that mode right now.”

• Halestorm’s current tour with Stone Sour has been a good time for all concerned, according to Hale. “I’m pretty sure Corey (Taylor, Stone Sour’s frontman) and my little brother Arjay (Halestorm’s drummer) are, like, the same person ‘cause they keep finishing each other’s sentences, and it’s a little scary,” she says with a laugh. “Normally everyone gets their own dressing room and everything but it’s all starting to intermingle and become its own monster. The opening band is called the Dead Deads, so we’re calling it Dead Halestone. We’ve definitely been having fun.”

• Hailing from the south-central Pennsylvania town of Red Lion, Halestorm is not surprisingly pleased by the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl victory. “I’m a Philly girl, so of course you root for the Eagles,” says Hale. “My bass player Josh (Smith) is hardcore, and in his family it’s like religion so he’s stoked. He was representing with socks and shirts and he had the full gamut going. And our lighting guy is a Patriots fan, so they made a bet for 20 bucks and a slap on the face, so it was quite an eventful Super Bowl for us.”
