Billy Joel fans will have to wait another year to see the Piano Man at Comerica Park.

Due to the uncertainty coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, Joel has decided to push his July 9 concert at the home of the Detroit Tigers to the same date in 2022, a Saturday night instead of a Friday.

Tickets for the show, originally scheduled for July 10, 2020, will be honored at next years show. Ticketholders will be contacted by Tigers.com via email with refund options.

The show was supposed to be Joel's first post-pandemic date, one of five stadium dates that were on tap for the summer. During "The Chazz Palminteri Show" podcast this week, Joel expressed doubts about those concerts, however, saying that, "We were supposed to do stadiums this summer, but they're all iffy. Nobody knows for sure." He will, however, be resuming his monthly concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden on Nov. 5.

Whenever it happens, the Comerica Park will be Joel's first solo show at a Detroit area stadium, having played a co-bill with Elton John previously at the Pontiac Silverdome.

Comerica Park will still host the Hella Mega Tour featuring Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy on Aug. 10, also rescheduled from last year. A Guns N' Roses date for July 24 at the stadium is still on the books, while The Stadium Tour with Motley Crue, Def Leppard and others has also been moved to 2022.

Updates will be available via Tigers.com and 313Presents.com.
